Coverage limits to confirm

[ ] Business auto liability shows $1,000,000 combined single limit if vehicles are required by the contract. [ ] Workers compensation is shown as statutory when required by law or contract. [ ] Employers liability shows $1,000,000 when required by the contract. [ ] Any higher limit in the signed contract has been sent to the agent or carrier for approval. [ ] The certificate matches the named insured and business name used in the contract.

Endorsements to request

[ ] Additional insured wording is requested for the client, owner, GC, agency, or other party named in the contract. [ ] Waiver of subrogation is requested if the contract requires the insurer to waive recovery rights. [ ] Primary and non-contributory wording is requested if the contract requires your policy to respond before the client's insurance. [ ] Copies of endorsements are requested when the contract requires more than a certificate. [ ] Any contract that names a specific additional insured form or edition has been sent to the agent or carrier for review. [ ] Endorsement requests are made before work begins, not on the morning of the job.

Certificate timing

[ ] Send the contract insurance section to the agent or carrier before bidding or quoting the job. [ ] After award, request the certificate and required endorsements before performance begins. [ ] Confirm the certificate holder name and address exactly as the contract states. [ ] Confirm whether the client wants email delivery, portal upload, or paper delivery. [ ] Ask whether notice language, such as advance notice of cancellation or expiration, is required by the contract. [ ] Keep the certificate, endorsement copies, and contract insurance section with the job file.
